In the creation of "Sripada" I embarked on a trans-formative exploration, seeking to encapsulate the essence of prosperity through artistic expression. This art installation, meticulously crafted using hundreds of paper tubes on brass, is an homage to the divine goddesses of wealth.

The symbol of two feet, intricately formed by the convergence of paper tubes and brass, holds profound significance. These feet represent our foundation, our connection to the earth.

Sripada - Accupressure Points

Adorning the pivotal acupressure points with delicate lotus-shaped brass Diyas, illuminating our journey. The lotus, a revered symbol in Eastern philosophy, signifies purity, enlightenment, and the unfolding of existence. Placed strategically at acupressure points, these lotus-shaped Diyas remind us of the radiant power within us, encouraging the balance between material desires and the spiritual essence inherent in our being.

The marriage of brass and paper tubes in the form of feet epitomizes the fusion of ancient wisdom and contemporary artistry. Brass, a resilient and timeless material, embodies strength and endurance. In contrast, the paper tubes, evoke a sense of fluidity and grace, representing the harmonious dance between aspiration and realization, materiality and spirituality.

May "Sripada" serve as a profound visual and tactile experience, inspiring all who encounter it to seek balance, embrace prosperity, and nurture a profound connection with life's blessings.

The art piece is a creative confluence of cardboard tubes made of wood fibers. These tubes were individually sorted to ensure they retain the shape and the dimension of the artwork.

In the pantheon of Gods and Goddess, Goddess Laxmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity. In contemporary times too, people connote her as the harbinger of material happiness. Every year during Diwali, faithful pay her an obeisance to summon wealth and opulence in their individual lives. The ceremony is referred to as Laxmi Pooja.

The Creation

When I took up this project the idea was to recreate the aura of Goddesses Laxmi. The feet of Laxmi is considered as a totem to attract wealth and happiness. And hence I recreated it using cardboard tubes. These tubes were individually sorted to ensure they retain the shape and the dimension of the artwork. The array of elevated tubes in the installation creates three dimensional feet.

This contemporary art installation is also a unique expression of two different mediums namely cardboard tubes and brass. The brass lotus visible in the artwork also has a beautiful connotation to it. Along with beauty, prosperity, and fertility, the lotus represents a healthy life. Hence it has been placed on the various acupressure points of the feet.
